Jean-Francois “Jeff” Clavier is the Founder and Managing Partner of SoftTech VC, one of the most established seed VC firms in Silicon Valley, having closed 170+ investments since 2004. An early angel investor in Web 2.0, Jeff and his team have backed successful startups like Mint (Intuit), Kongregate (GameStop), Brightroll (Yahoo), LiveRamp (Acxiom), Milo (eBay), Wildfire (Google), Bleacher Report (Turner), Gnip (Twitter), Fitbit (NYSE:FIT), Eventbrite, Sendgrid, Poshmark, Hired, Postmates and Vungle. The portfolio has also seen acquisitions by Groupon, Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo and AOL. The firm is currently investing out of its $85M Fund IV, making 16 commitments of $850K per year in mobile/cloud saas, consumer services, connected hardware, marketplaces and healthcare IT.
Manish Patel is a partner at Highland Capital partners. He invests in consumer internet, mobile and digital media companies that observe patterns in our everyday lives and use technology to solve problems at a human scale. Manish is actively involved with a number of Highland’s investments include Jaunt, Shift, Scopely, Leap Motion, Weeby, and Disconnect. He was previously involved with Aviate (acquired by Yahoo), Impermium (acquired by Google) and SmartThings (acquired by Samsung).
Prior to Highland, Manish held several leadership roles across Google as it grew from a search engine to the dominant company that it is today. He led Google’s advanced imagery and 3D mapping programs, launched the first search and recommendation engine for Google’s TV initiative and worked extensively with Google’s international offices. Early on at Google, Manish was part of the team that built the company’s advertising systems, developing key components for both AdWords and AdSense.
Henry Ward is the founder and CEO of eShares, a fast-growing online platform that allows companies—from seed stage to pre-IPO—to manage equity electronically with the participation of their shareholders, employees, auditors, and legal counsel. They are working with more than 1,500 companies and add more than 200 companies each month. Last year, they raised $17 million in Series B funding at a post-money valuation of $77 million.
